What program will EBI offer for middle school?

Please visit our Middle School Program page to learn more about the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme. Sixth graders, applying to the 2012-2012 school year, will complete the last year of the Primary Years Programme before beginning the Middle Years Programme in 7th grade.

Who can apply to EBI's middle school program?

For the 2012-2013 school year we are accepting students who are entering 6th grade only. We will take 7th graders beginning in 2013-2014 school year and 8th graders the year after that. 

Does my child need to speak Spanish to enter into the middle school?

Yes, your child must be fluent in Spanish in order to be accepted into EBI's middle school program.

How will my child's Spanish language be assessed?

Every applicant to 6th grade will spend a morning in the classroom. During this time, we will assess their reading, writing and verbal skills in Spanish.

Will my child learn another language?

Yes, all of our students study Mandarin as a third language.

Can my child visit the school?

Yes, once we have received your application all applicants will get to spend a morning in the school. This is a time for your child to get a sense of what EBI is all about and also an opportunity for us to get to know your child. During this time, your child will also have several assessments in English, Spanish and Mathematics.

Can I visit the school before applying?

Certainly! We have several tours for our West Campus in Emeryville. They begin at 8:45. They are on the following dates:

What will the tuition be?

The current tuition at EBI is $16,500. The Board of Trustees sets the tuition for the following school year at its January board meeting.  For more information about EBI's tuition and fees please visit our tuition page.

Is there financial aid available for students entering middle school?

What extracurricular activities will you offer?

EBI offers enrichment classes after school. Classes have traditionally included; Strings (violin and Cello), Jewelry making, dance, soccer, capoeira, yoga and more. After school classes are often created in response to parent and student interest.
