After School Classes

Dance to the Afro-Caribbean music
Tuesday 4:15-5:00 pm
Location: Room 3
Instructor: Gabriela Shiroma
$85 for 8 classes

Gabriela will engage children through the Afro-Peruvian cajón and zapateo (traditional Peruvian dance which features intricate foot work), and other dances with traditional rhythms such as festejos, valses, and landos.

Cajón (drumming)
Just as its name indicates, a Cajón is a box made of wooden sheets- preferably cedar or mahogany- on which the player sits to strike the front and side. They will have a lot of fun!

Moving to world rhythms
Wednesday 3:30-4:15 pm
Location: Room 3
Instructor: Benardette LaNoue
$85 for 8 classes

Children will learn simple dance patterns as well as create their own movements to variety of music. They will also use some props like scarves, ribbons and fans.

Let's play soccer
Thursday 3:30-4:30 pm
Location: Gymnasium
Instructor: Victor Palacios
$85 for 8 classes

The soccer class will combines fundamental soccer skills with the love of the game . Children will learn special moves and fun games. ¡Juguemos al futbol!

Let's cook and dance
Thursday 4:00-4:45 pm
Location: Room 3
Instructor: Lina Rubio
$96 for 8 classes

Cooking can be a lot of fun when you combine it with music and dancing. Lina will bring recipes from her own country, Peru. The importance of proper cleanup will be stressed.

Please mention any food allergies when registering.


Adult Classes

Mommy/Daddy and Me
Monday and Wednesday 8:45 - 9:45 am
Location: Library (morning class)
Tuesday and Friday 4:00 - 5:00 pm
Location: Room 5 (evening class)
Instructors: Sandra Millan / Lina Rubio

Sandra and Lina introduce conversational Spanish skills to young children. Children, along with their parents, learn Spanish in a fun way with songs, movement and hands-on activities. Children are exposed to the different phonetic sounds of the Spanish language through songs and conversations. As they listen to words and sentences, language comprehension is facilitated by the use of hand and body gestures as well as the use of props. Classes focus on listening skills, vocabulary development, language comprehension, social skills and fun.

Spanish Language for Adults
8 classes, 1 ½ hours each class
EBI parents: $100 + $15 materials fee
Community members: $120.00 + $30 registration & materials fee

Beginners
Tuesday 5:00-6:30 pm
Beginners program includes vocabulary, basic grammar, everyday dialogue, and notes on cultural topics about the different Spanish speaking countries.

Advanced
Thursday 5:00-6:30 pm
Advanced students program follows the text book introduces finer points of conversation, grammar and culture.
