EBI provides diversity and multicultural professional development for faculty.
The Faculty Diversity Committee was developed to promote within the community the ideals expressed in the declaration of diversity/multiculturalism and inclusiveness of EBI. It seeks to support a learning environment that represents the various constituents of the EBI community.
The committee aims to recommend materials to buy that reflect the present diversity at EBI (to use in each unit of inquiry) along with tools and resources that build awareness and skills for negotiating multiple differences in the school. In addition, the committee identifies options for the development of age appropriate multicultural and anti-bias curriculum that gives life to the EBI’s core values and diversity philosophy statement. Lastly, they review the inquiry program and planners, to ensure that the diversity present in the EBI is being promoted, recognized and celebrated, while offering suggestions on how to enable diversity to truly flourish in the curriculum.
