Town Hall- Dr. Turner (For 2nd-5th Grade Families)
Thursday, May 31, 2018 - 6:00pm to 7:30pm
We cordially invite you to our second division-level/developmental-level town hall meeting for all 2nd-5th families to explore the lived experience of race in and out of our community and to share useful techniques and resources for parenting around this topic. This meeting will have structured facilitation, strategies and sharing opportunities for all attendees. Our meeting moderator will be Dr. Jimmie Turner, a professor of Psychology at John F. Kennedy University, experienced in community consultation and who was voted one of the 50 most influential members of the Oakland/San Francisco Bay area for his support of community projects. Dr. Turner has collaborated with EBI in various race-related projects, interracial conversations and group meetings. In addition to Dr. Turner's support, we have designed this town hall meeting with the guidance and recommendations from Dr. Becki Cohn-Vargas, a Doctor in Education, author and speaker focused on inclusion, compassion and belonging. She has many years of experience with coaching, seminars, and blogs and other publications to help raise identity-safe children and help create safe school climates. We hope you will join us!
