Social Emotional Learning and

Learning Differences Support

At EBI, we’re committed to meeting each child where they are and helping them grow into who they're meant to be.

At Escuela Bilingüe Internacional, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Through our integrated approach to Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) and Learning Differences Support, we create a nurturing, inclusive environment where all students are seen, supported, and celebrated for who they are.

A Foundation of Social-Emotional Learning (SEL)

Beginning in Transitional Kindergarten (TK) and continuing through Grade 8, EBI implements research-based SEL programming aligned with the International Baccalaureate (IB) philosophy. Our curriculum emphasizes belonging, empathy, risk-taking, and global citizenship—essential tools for both academic success and personal growth.

In addition to classroom instruction, students in Grades 2–5 may participate in Social-Emotional Lunch Clubs, where they develop skills in communication, collaboration, and self-awareness in a safe and supportive environment. These clubs are open to all and are especially helpful for students who benefit from additional practice in social connection and emotional resilience.

The boy, with short brown hair, is smiling and reaching for a book on an orange couch. Both are wearing dark clothing, and the girl has a book in her hand on the floor.

Multisensory Learning & Differentiated Instruction

We understand that students learn in different ways. That’s why our teachers, in partnership with our Learning Specialists, employ multisensory approaches and Universal Design for Learning (UDL)  across the curriculum. This ensures students engage with material in ways that honor their learning styles and abilities, while maintaining high academic standards for all.

Family Engagement and Ongoing Communication

We value the partnership between school, home, and specialist. Parent-Teacher-Specialist meetings are held regularly to monitor student progress and align strategies. EBI also offers monthly parent support groups and workshops, providing a space for connection, shared experiences, and learning from expert guest speakers.

Tools for Success and Transitions

Technology is thoughtfully integrated into our learning support practices, including access to assistive tools like text-to-speech software and specialized learning apps. For families of 8th graders, we provide guidance and support throughout the high school application process, with a particular focus on schools that meet the academic and social needs of neurodiverse learners.

Early Intervention and Academic Support

Our Early Intervention Program begins in the youngest grades, offering both classroom-based and one-on-one behavioral support to help students develop emotional regulation, improve peer interactions, and adapt to school routines.

For students in Kindergarten through Grade 8 with documented learning differences or behavioral health needs, our Student Support Team (SST) develops Individualized Academic Plans (IAPs) in close collaboration with families. Learning Specialists work with students one-on-one or in small groups, in both Spanish and English, to support areas such as reading (including dyslexia), math (including dyscalculia), ADHD, and executive functioning.

From TK through Grade 5, our Learning Specialists also provide in-class “push-in” support, helping students remain part of the inclusive classroom community while receiving small-group and individualized attention.
