Born and raised in Madrid, Spain, Raquel brings nearly 20 years of experience in bilingual and progressive education across Spain and the United States. After earning degrees in Elementary Education and Educational Psychology, she continued her studies in Early Childhood Education and second language acquisition after moving to the Bay Area.

Raquel spent nearly a decade teaching multiple grade levels and subjects before moving into leadership roles. She currently serves as Head of Middle School at The San Francisco School, a progressive independent school grounded in social justice, diversity, and student-centered learning.

Previously, Raquel served as Principal of grades 2–8 at Escuela Bilingüe Internacional. Before EBI, she spent six years at Spanish Infusion School (formerly Marin Preparatory School), serving as teacher, Upper School Head, and Spanish Language Director, where she developed and led the K–8 Spanish program.

Raquel is passionate about bilingual and multicultural education and believes schools play a vital role in developing compassionate, globally minded learners. She values strong partnerships with students, families, and faculty and is deeply committed to building inclusive communities where all students feel known and supported.

Outside of school, Raquel enjoys cooking, reading, working out, following sports, and exploring new places with her husband and daughter.
