The EBI Parent Learning Series brings parents and experts together to explore these questions through approachable presentations, practical insights, and meaningful conversation. These free events welcome EBI families and parents throughout the Bay Area. Whether you are exploring bilingual education or looking for ways to support your child’s growth, we invite you to join us.

The Benefits of Bilingualism

Learning in two languages opens new ways to communicate, connect, and understand the world. Explore what research tells us about bilingualism, learning, and children’s development—and what those findings mean for your family.

We’ll discuss how bilingual experiences can shape learning, support connections across cultures, and help children navigate different perspectives.

Building Blocks of Literacy for Early Readers

November 19 | 6:30 - 8pm

How do children acquire more than one language, and what can parents do to support them? Join us for a conversation about language development, common misconceptions, and the many paths children take toward bilingualism. Leave with practical ideas for encouraging language development at home and a clearer understanding of what to expect along the way.

  • From no Spanish to fully bilingual

    Henry started at EBI in grade 6 with some Spanish exposure, but no formal study and a gap of a few years. The individualized attention that first year laid the groundwork for Henry to be fully integrated with his classmates by the middle of grade 7, and by the end of grade 8, he was performing as Puck in A Midsummer Night’s Dream—in Spanish! It was a truly astonishing trajectory, and he considers himself fully bilingual at the end of this journey. The community was so welcoming when we joined and the connections we made are continuing into high school.
