Ernesto is a cancer researcher and entrepreneur with over 25 years of experience advancing the science and treatment of cancer. He spent a decade as a Research Professor at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), where he and his team uncovered the mechanisms underlying several cancer types and translated that work into clinical therapies for childhood leukemia — earning him multiple scientific awards along the way. A firm believer in the power of science to improve lives beyond the lab, Ernesto also founded a company developing robotics solutions for people with disabilities. He currently holds a director role at a biopharmaceutical company focused on immuno-oncology and serves as an advisor to emerging companies and startups in the life sciences space.
Ernesto credits his early education at a bilingual French school with shaping his worldview — and his fluency in five languages: Spanish, English, French, Italian, and German. That experience made EBI an obvious and enthusiastic choice for his daughter. Since her enrollment, he has been a visible and active presence in the EBI community, supporting school events and leading a Spanish-language evening class for EBI parents and guardians. He is deeply committed to EBI's bilingual mission and to the community that makes it thrive.
